BEHIND THE VULVAS

Hi, I'm Arie, I am a multidisciplinary Antwerp based artist from Brazil. I make all the illustrations and work behind ALTIJDPOESJES since 2015. Much of my work is political, as it often deals with my own sexuality, queerness and marginalised identities and bodies. Exploring the female gaze and the invisibility of queer and lesbian women, committed to diversity and inclusivity. I draw the female body as a way to challenge both worlds, the beauty and the fierceness of female genitalia. Reflecting a queer body in this broken world. My illustrations are a start to open conversation where a lot of people are still afraid of, nowadays.

In a phallic world we celebrate VULVAS

Have you ever thought how many dick doodles have you seen in the toilets compared to vulva doodles throughout your life?

I think we live in a totally phallic world, and im not talking about the dick doodles, but in general we struggle to adore our bodies and lives, especially when you cross the intersectionalities (queer, trans, sapphic, black & poc...)

So we must celebrate VULVAS more intensively. because every pussy is as beautiful as every flower in the forests of human lives.
